11th Edition of the event brings inclusion and sport to Cova da Alfarroba Beach.
As part of the World Children's Day celebrations, Cova da Alfarroba Beach in Peniche became the main stage for the 11th Edition of Inclusive / Adaptive Surfing. The event, already established as a major local and regional reference, combined sports practice with the promotion of equal opportunities, providing an unforgettable morning filled with excitement and joy for dozens of children and young people.
With the ocean as its backdrop and inclusion as its guiding principle, the initiative aimed to break down barriers and demonstrate that surfing is a universal sport — accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. Through carefully adapted activities and close technical support, participants experienced the unique sensation of riding the waves in complete safety.
Educational and Social Community United for a Cause
The success of this 11th edition was reflected in the strong mobilization of the community. The event welcomed the active participation of a wide network of invited institutions, highlighting the involvement of several school groups and social support organizations from the region:
Peniche School Group
D. Luís de Ataíde School Group
Atouguia da Baleia School Group
Peniche Secondary School
Henriques Nogueira School Group
CERCI Peniche
D. Lourenço Vicente School Group
Lourinhã School Group
Specialized Support and the Essential Role of Volunteers
In addition to the technical staff from the surf schools, the safety and success of every session in the water were ensured by dedicated teams providing specialized support and inclusion assistance with every wave.
The organizers also issued a heartfelt appeal to the community: “We need volunteers. Join us and help make this day special.” This spirit of solidarity and citizenship is the true driving force that allows individual attention and support for every participant, turning a day at the beach into a lifelong memory.
A Dedicated Organization
This remarkable adaptive surfing event was made possible through the partnership and joint efforts of two leading organizations committed to the sporting, tourism, and social development of Peniche:
Special Surf 78
Star inn Peniche
With another extremely positive year behind it, this event once again reinforces Peniche's status as the surfing capital — not only because of its unique natural conditions for the sport, but also because of its inclusive spirit and its ability to host initiatives that transform society through sport.
