On 29 May this year, Special Surf 78 welcomed Portuguese television channel RTP1
and took part in Aqui Portugal.
We talked about our school and our mission, which is to bring surf to everyone,
including individuals with disabilities, leaving nobody behind, breaking down
stereotypes, and proving that it is possible to promote the social inclusion of individuals
with temporary or permanent disabilities through surf.
Our school offers adapted surf experiences and the chance to enjoy them regularly as a
form of treatment: Surf Therapy.
In either case, students are included in a group—Inclusive Surf—allowing people with
and without specific difficulties to learn to surf together, regardless of their
circumstances.
Activities are planned according to the needs of each student; one or more instructors
may take part, depending on the student's specific difficulties, with the aim of making the surf lesson inclusive, meaningful, and safe, and therefore memorable and
unforgettable.
